Spring Term 2025

Croeso i Ddosbarth Fox

This term our topic is all about The Victorians. We have generated questions about this topic and throughout the term we will answer these questions through developing our skills and knowledge.

As part of our Wythnos Cymraeg, we focused on Rheilffordd Y Mwmbwls / The Mumbles Railway. We wrote postcards in Welsh, created timelines, sketched the different trains and trams, researched the railway using the internet and look at different railway artefacts and wrote about them.

We went on a visit to Oystermouth Library. Mrs Mullen shared Victorian maps of the area with us, we looked at Victorian books, Victorian photography, census results and what the local area was like during the Victorian Era. We then walked to Blackpill along the promenade and walked where the Mumbles Railway used to be. We saw a number of signs where the railway stations and stops had been. We sketched the view across to Mumbles from Blackpill and compared it to what it would have been like during Victorian times. When we returned to school, we recreated our sketches using the Drawing tool on Adobe Express and looked at Mumbles artwork by artists including Craig Jones, Pamela Jones and Annabel Dann. We then created our own versions of their work. Gwaith gwych pawb!
