This term our topic is 'Once Upon a Time'. This topic has a storytelling and Expressive Arts focus. So far this term, we have . . . 

decided to work on the story of Cantre'r Gwaelod. We have though of questions that we would like to find out about the story and started work on answering these questions. 

We have been developing our understanding of recount writing. We are looking at the features of recount writing including writing in the past tense, using first and third person and using the 5W's. We have been developing our spelling skills by using Spelling Shed. We practise our reading skills each day during our ERIC time. 

We have been working on place value in Mathematics and Numeracy. We have developed our skills of representing, comparing and ordering numbers. We have found numbers on number lines and partitioned numbers. We have worked on proving our answers and explaining our answers. We used TTBlast to develop our multiplication and division skills. 

We have developing our Welsh skills through our Slot Ddrilio. We learn new vocabulary, sing songs, play games, read and ask and answer questions. Our Ninja Cymraeg completes 'Y Calendr' a 'Siart Tywydd' and takes on lots of different responsibilities throughout the day bilingually. We are proud of all the 'Tocyn Iaith' that we earn by using lots of Cymraeg throughout the school day in class, around the school on the yard. 

We have been developing our physical skills with Mrs Croall through a range of different P.E. activities. We use both the indoor and outdoor environments. We work individually, pairs and small groups. We have developed our teamwork and cooperation. 

We have been finding out about sound, how we hear and volume. We explored different parts of the school and used digital online decibel meters to find out where the loudest and quietest parts of the school were. 

We have been developing our digital skills by using J2Create to improve our word processing skills. We have worked on changing the font, font size and colour. We have developed our skills of moving text and inserting pictures. We have copied and pasted images from the internet related to Cantre'r Gwaelod using keyboard shortcuts. 

We used J2Create to label key places from the Cantre'r Gwaelod story. We used online maps to find Cardigan Bay, Borth, Ynyslas, Aberdyfi and other key places that are part of our Cynefin on the map. We used success criteria to help us and assessed our work. 

As part of Expressive Arts, we are part of the Swansea Music BuzzAlong and BandAlong projects. Blwyddyn 3 have just started on their pBuzz journey and are developing their buzzing skills. Blwyddyn 4 are learning the pBone or pCornet and were extremely excited last week to have their first session with Mr Downing. 

We visited the Taliesin to watch a performance of 'Fish Boy'. We enjoyed the production and we fortunate to have workshops in school. 

We were visited by an African drummer from Senegal. We developed our understanding of pulse and rhythm. We got to perform using the drums and worked well as a team.
