Nursery Class Race Day
23rd June 2021
Welcome to February 2021!
Dear Nursery Class Families,
It's a new month and one full of celebrations and festivals for us to learn about together. We have got Welsh Music Day on the 5th February, the festival of Chinese New Year to learn about on the 12th February and St Valentine's Day on the 14th February. We will then have the Half Term break on the week beginning on Monday 15th February. I am so looking forward to the month ahead and the icing on the cake will be if we can all be back in the Nursery class together for the week beginning 22nd February, all things being safe and well enough for us to return. We cannot wait to see how much you have all grown!
Thank you again for all your hard work at home and for sharing your incredible blended learning journeys with us at school. Keep smiling and sharing! We will all be together soon.

Pancake Day 2021
This year Shrove Tuesday, or Pancake Day as it is sometimes known is taking place in the Half term holidays on Tuesday 16th February and if we were in Nursery we would be learning all about it this week and so we did not want you to miss out on all the fun, so I have enclosed some fun activities for you to explore at home today or over the Half Term break.
What is Pancake Day?
It is a traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter and was traditionally a time of fasting, and Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the fast, and pancakes are the perfect way of using up these ingredients. As well as eating pancakes it is traditional to have pancake races and toss pancakes!
What is a Pancake?
A pancake is a thin, flat cake, made of batter and fried in a frying pan. A traditional English pancake is very thin and is served immediately. Lemon juice and caster sugar are the usual toppings for pancakes.
Please listen to the story Mr. Wolf's Pancakes and the song clip about pancakes to find out more.

From 1-7 February 2021 schools, youth groups, organisations and individuals across the UK will take part in Children’s Mental Health Week.
This year’s theme is Express Yourself.
Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good.
It’s important to remember that being able to express yourself is not about being the best at something or putting on a performance for others. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself.
For Children's Mental Health Week 2021 we will be encouraging children (and adults) to explore the different ways we can express ourselves, and the creative ways that we can share our feelings, our thoughts and our ideas.
