These can be completed online or on paper.

Welcome back to school and to a new academic year in Year 1 and 2.

Here is some information to help you this term:

Our topic this term is Community Explorers.

We will be exploring the geographical and human features of our local community, exploring maps and using the language of direction and position. We will also be writing and ordering instructions, as well as designing our own local community relief map. 

As well as our topic, we will be concentrating on our reading skills, letter formation in handwriting, writing simple sentences and using correct punctuation, and building up to writing more complex sentences and paragraphs.

In our daily maths lessons we will be focusing on our basic number bonds, addition and subtraction, money values, 2D and 3D shapes and the language of position and direction.

Here are some of our weekly routines:

Everyday - reading in class. Please bring your reading book and reading record to school every day.

Wednesdays - bring in your wellies and coat ready for Welly Wednesday.

Thursdays - homework will be set to be completed by the following Wednesday.

Thursdays - PE day so please wear appropriate footwear and clothes (trousers, leggings etc.)

Homework using Hwb

In the next few weeks all the Year 1/2 children will be given a username and password for their Hwb account. Some future homework tasks will be accessed via the Hwb.

If there are any difficulties or concerns regarding their ICT use/access, please feel free to discuss the matter with Mrs Croall or Mr Whitehouse.
